Art, Revolution and Ownership: Artists in Conversation with Copyright
/The Artists Legal Outreach , in partnership with the New Forms Festival, is pleased to present Art, Revolution and Ownership: Artists in Conversation with Copyright, September 8 – 11, 2011.
The exhibition/event includes 3 living labs featuring works in various media (remix video, painting, photography, animation, printmaking, and graphic design), a dance performance by the plastic orchid factory set to text by John Cage and remixed live by Josh Hite, as well as three dialogue discussions between scholars and artists on the role of copyright in the creative industries.
The program is curated by Martha Rans. Mark Hosler, founding member of Negativland, will join us as the roving moderator/agent provocateur.
Join us for this multi-disciplinary Vancouver based event, September 8-11, 2011 at the Waldorf Hotel, 1489 East Hastings St. for the art exhibition and two dialogue discussions. The dance performance and additional dialogue discussion will take place in the Atrium at SFU Woodwards Campus in Gastown at the Goldcorp Centre for the Arts, 149 West Hastings St.
Artists Legal Outreach is also currently looking for volunteers to help us execute this digital media and copyright event. This is a great opportunity to meet and talk to artists on how copyright as a legal issue has affected their work, and to educate yourselves on basic copyright laws in the artistic discipline. We are also looking for a volunteer to assist us with our social media needs.
If you are interested in finding out more about how you can participate, please contact Stephanie Wong at artistslegaloutreach@gmail.com.
We look forward to seeing you there!
