/On February 22, Minister of Municipal Affairs and Housing, the Hon. Selina Robinson, presented Budget 2022: Stronger Together, in which the government pledged an additional $25 million in recovery to the tourism industry.
Said Minister Robinson in her speech, “Millions in funding provided a lifeline for more than 8,000 tourism businesses. and additional funding will provide support for non-profits impacted by the pandemic, as well as the arts, culture and music sector. The budget highlights (pp. 7) clarify that the arts and culture funding, which is separate from the $25M in tourism funding, will predominantly be circulated through the Arts Impact and Amplify BC programs, while pp. 141 of the formal budget adds that this additional funding may be administered as “Resilience Supplement grants to existing BC Arts Council clients.”
The budget also lays out a Non-Profit Recovery and Resilience Fund of $30 million, to be administered by the Vancouver Foundation and the United Way BC to support organizations across B.C.
