GVPTA Releases Fall 2021 COVID-19 B.C. Arts & Culture Sector Impact Report

GVPTA has released its Fall 2021 COVID-19 B.C. Arts & Culture Sector Impact Report, based on survey responses collected from artists, arts workers, and arts, culture, and heritage organizations across British Columbia in November.
The COVID-19 pandemic continues to have a profound effect on the arts and culture sector. As part of a data collection strategy to gain an understanding of the impact in British Columbia, GVPTA developed a survey that has been issued province-wide and across disciplines.
Responses from 373 artists, arts workers, and organizations are represented in the Fall 2021 report. Questions and themes explored include:
Vaccines and Testing – The impact of the provincial Proof of Vaccine mandate and organizational policies;
Working in Arts and Culture – Income projections for artists and workers, continued work in the sector, and changing staffing levels;
Obstacles – Challenges faced recently and anticipated over the coming months by individuals and organizations;
Public Programming – Changes in audience capacity size, and in organizational planning cycles;
Feeling Safe – Conditions artists and workers want in order to feel safe in different spaces;
Mental Health and Benefits – Understanding the level of access to extended health benefits and sick days in our sector.
