Visceral Visions Opens CultureBrew.Art, A Web Platform for Indigenous and Racialized Artists
/CultureBrew.Art (CBA), a digital platform that features a searchable database of Indigenous and racialized artists (IARA), opened for membership September 5.
“CBA will be a powerful tool for building a more inclusive arts and culture sector that more authentically reflects Canada by promoting Indigenous and racialized artists; increasing hiring opportunities for IARA; and fostering intercultural connection, community, and artistic collaboration,” the website explains. “CBA is searchable by artistic discipline, gender, racial/ethnic heritage – Indigenous (First Nations, Inuit, Métis), African diaspora, East/Southeast Asian diaspora, Latin American (Latinx) diaspora, South Asian diaspora, West Asian/Southwest Asian/North African (Middle Eastern/Arab) diaspora, mixed ethnicity – and other fields as determined by research data gathered through community consultations.”
CBA is also offering a special promotion for BC Alliance readers ahead of its September 25 launch. By using the code ALLIANCE-ARTIST, artists will receive their first year of membership, a $25 value, free. Your profile will be searchable by your fellow artists, theatre, opera + dance companies, film/TV casting, festivals, indie producers, artist collectives, and community + social service agencies.
