The BC Alliance's Fall Workshops Are Here!
/It may be the season of pumpkin spice and bagging leaves, but that doesn't mean your administrative skills need to Fall by the wayside. For our Fall Workshop Series, we've combined new approaches with some old favourites to create a full cornucopia of skill-boosting sessions that will have you giving thanks.
On October 22, Natasha Tony leads a free session on Maintaining Respectful Workplaces, drawing upon the Cultural Human Resources Council's Respectful Workplaces in the Arts initiative. Learn best practices to keep your workplace free of bullying, harassment, discrimination and violence. This session is available for free exclusively for BC Alliance members on a first-come, first-serve basis. There are very few spaces remaining, so sign up today. Once capacity is reached, a waitlist will be implemented.
Then, on October 23, arts marketer Sandy Liu leads Building Sustainable Audiences: Why Your Target Visitors Are Just Not That Into You, and How to Win Them Back. How can you capture the audience you're seeking, and keep them coming back for more? Sandy breaks down common mistakes arts organizations make in audience-building and imparts wisdom on how to create sustained, ongoing engagement.
Sandy returns on October 29 for Financial Independence for the Arts: Generate Sustainable Revenue and Decrease Reliance on Grants and Donations. Looking for ways to take your organization’s destiny into your own hands and not be at the mercy of a handful of grants coming through each year? Optimize your marketing dollars and create new revenue streams with this interactive session.
The focus on finance continues into November: keep your money tree from shedding its leaves as superstar arts admin Linda Gorrie leads Basics of Finance for Arts and Culture Organizations, an all-purpose financial management primer (November 5), and Financial Strategy for Arts and Culture Organizations, a top-down look at how to plan the management and growth of your organization (November 19).
Last but certainly not least, Mary Ann Anderson returns with her popular Grant Writing Success workshop on November 21. Learn how to translate your idea into the language of a funding application while avoiding common mistakes and pitfalls, and get hands-on help with your toughest grant question/answer.
