City of Vancouver Seeks Nonprofit Operator for Newly Acquired Property

The following is excerpted from a call issued by the City of Vancouver.

The City of Vancouver has received a property at 2850 W. 3rd Ave. from the estate of Eric Manfort Pierce, and is looking for responses from mission-based, nonprofit organizations to operate the house for the purpose of community benefit. Mr. Pierce's will directs that the property be used to benefit the citizens of Vancouver. The City will honour the wishes of Mr. Pierce by ensuring the house provides individuals, groups or communities in Vancouver with beneficial services.

The property is zoned RT-8, which allows a range of Cultural and Recreational, Dwelling and Institutional uses. The structure was built circa 1909 and is part of a collective streetscape of ten buildings on the Heritage Register, designated as a protected heritage property. The Operator will be responsible for capital maintenance, property tax, and operational expenses, while assuming a nominal lease from the City, and will be responsible for procuring any repair works and upgrades that are required for the proposed occupancy.
