Liberal MP Pablo Rodriguez has assumed the role of Minister of Canadian Heritage following a cabinet shuffle which saw new ministers step into prominent roles in Prime Minister Justin Trudeau's federal cabinet. The Honourable Mélanie Joly, who served in the role from 2015-2018, has been newly appointed as Minister of Tourism, Official Languages and La Francophonie.

Rodriguez has represented the electoral district of Honoré-Mercier since 2015, and previously served as MP to the same district from 2004-2011. He has a background in public affairs and project management, and a history in the humanitarian sector, including serving as vice-president of Oxfam Québec from 2000-2004.

These changes come as part of a larger cabinet update, which included a number of prominent additions and reassignments. For a full list of the changes to the federal cabinet, click here.
