PACT to Host Community Consultations About CTA

The Professional Association of Canadian Theatres (PACT) is conducting a series of community consultations about the future of the most influential labour agreement in Canadian theatre, the Canadian Theatre Agreement (CTA). The agreement was rejected at the last PACT AGM as PACT members recognized the need to have a more diverse practice and to broaden the scope of partnerships from within equity seeking communities.

Because the Canadian Theatre Agreement, negotiated between PACT and Canadian Actors’ Equity Association, influences practice across professional theatre both inside and outside PACT membership, it is vital for PACT to take into consideration how a newly negotiated CTA will affect the larger theatre community.

PACT is planning community consultation sessions in many of the major city centres across Canada so that each individual theatre community and any surrounding areas have the opportunity to participate in these important conversations. A consultation will take place in Vancouver on November 20, 3:00 – 5:00 p.m. at Performance Works. If you have any questions, contact Eleanor Antoncic, PACT's Labour Relations Manager, at eleanor@pact.ca.

PACT is intentionally seeking the participation of producers from equity seeking communities. If producers from the BIPOC, disability arts or other marginalized communities require financial assistance in order to make attendance more feasible, please contact Sara Meurling in the PACT office at sara@pact.ca.
