Vancouver Poet Laureate Calls for Submissions for New Anthology
/Vancouver's poet laureate, Rachel Rose, is inviting writers to submit short works, poems and essays for a new anthology that will bring together the city's vibrant literary and culinary scenes. The anthology is titled Sustenance: Writers from B.C. and Beyond on the Subject of Food, and will be published by Anvil Press in September, 2017.
Sustenance will bring together the city's vibrant literary and culinary scenes. Writers are invited to submit works that explore all matter of relationships to food – exile and migration, food scarcity, kitchen table healing and more.
"This anthology will support Vancouver's ability to welcome newcomers, symbolically and materially," says Rose, who will edit the book.
"It will support people who are struggling, while celebrating our writers and showcasing Vancouver's local food heritage."
All proceeds from the book will support refugee or low-income families with fresh, locally grown produce for while supporting B.C. farmers, fishers, beekeepers and gardeners through the Farmers Market Nutrition Coupon program.
