Vocalist and music educator Siri Olesen has been named the new artistic manager at musica intima. In her role as artistic manager, Olesen, who has been a soprano vocalist with the organization for nearly 20 years, will collaborate with the ensemble, the board of directors and the general manager to develop and facilitate musica intima's artistic vision and goals. She will work closely with the ensemble to plan and execute performances, and to grow community outreach initiatives, including the Song-cology choir partnership with the BC Cancer Agency.
“I have a long relationship with musica intima for many reasons beyond my love of singing," says Olesen. "The organization’s values of connection, community and collaboration resonate strongly with me, and I’m thrilled to be part of this wonderful organization in a new way.”
Olesen holds a degree in piano performance from the University of Alberta, a Diploma in Jazz Studies from Capilano University, and is pursuing a Master in Arts Education at Simon Fraser University. She's performed with Early Music Vancouver, the Pacific Baroque Orchestra, Vancouver New Music, the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra and the CBC Radio Orchestra.
“Ms. Olesen has a tremendous career as a vocalist, pianist, organist, choral director and music educator,” says Bob D’Eith, general manager of musica intima. “I look forward to supporting the artistic vision that Ms. Olesen and the ensemble will develop together, and that will lead our creative and exciting upcoming 2017/2018 season.”
