BC Touring Council Presents On the Road Touring Workshop

The following is excerpted from a release issued by the BC Touring Council.

The BC Touring Council (BCTC) presents On the Road: A Touring Workshop for Aspiring, Emerging Performing Artists. The goal of the workshop, which takes place November 18-19 at the Hilton Vancouver Metrotown Hotel in Burnaby, is to increase opportunities for aspiring, emerging artists 34 years and under to train and work alongside creative professionals in the performing arts.

The two-day workshop covers topics such as tour planning, attending industry and contact events, career and financial management, hiring an agent, artist fees, marketing and promotion, and more. Participants are invited to participate in five-minute Showcase sessions and receive feedback from trainers. Often featured at industry events, these 5-minute performances offer an opportunity to showcase their talent to buyers.

The workshop is intended to serve aspiring, emerging artists interested in enhancing their knowledge about performing arts touring. For the purposes of this program, aspiring, emerging artists are defined as those 34 years old and under who have mastered the basic techniques of their art form through education or apprenticeship and who are in the early stage of launching a professional career.
