Application Deadline Approaching for Digital LEAP Playwrighting Program

Students in remote areas in Northern BC, the Interior, or any smaller community in British Columbia who are interested in developing their playwriting skills can apply to be part of a free program offered through the Arts Club Theatre Company.
Digital LEAP is a weekly, 10-week program that connects through schools to smaller communities in BC and engages with talented young writers (aged 16 – 19) to provide online instruction through a virtual classroom, moderated by instructor and program leader Shawn Macdonald in Vancouver.
Each student is guided through the creation of a short original play which is then workshopped by a cast of professional actors. The workshopping process is streamed from the Arts Club in Vancouver directly to the students’ computer. The program culminates in a mini-festival of play readings that take place in front of a live audience at the Arts Club in Vancouver and the event is streamed live to the participating communities.
The program is 100% free to successful applicants.

Students must apply by Thursday, December 15, 2016.
Class schedule
Classes will take place after school hours on Thursdays.
How To Apply
If you live in a community in Northern BC, the Interior, or in any smaller community in BC and are interested in the program, either as a school, an administrator or as a student hoping to participate in Digital LEAP, send an email.
The Arts Club will also reach out to high schools in smaller communities in BC throughout the fall of 2016, and invite applications from students.
- All applicants must fill out a registration form.
- 1–2 page sample of ANY writing you feel good about—a poem, essay, monologue, short scene, play, letter. It can be something you wrote a while ago or something brand new. Maximum 2 pages, 12-point font.
- A paragraph about you and why you'd like to participate in Digital LEAP. Please include your age and where you go to school.
