City of New Westminster Seeks Community Input For New Arts Strategy

The City of New Westminster is gathering information to support an update to its Arts Strategy. Residents, business owners, visitors and those working in New Westminster are invited to participate in a survey and a series of focus groups. Note that it is not necessary that you reside in New Westminster to provide your feedback.

The new Arts Strategy will be a guiding document that will renew, refresh, and re-envision plans for the development of the arts in New Westminster.

Survey

The survey will take inventory of the audience demographics in the city, identify gaps in services, catalogue the current arts facilities, and measure the public value and social benefits of the arts in the community. There are different ways to complete the survey: online, in person, and at various cultural and community events in the city. The survey will be also be available at local art galleries, schools, cultural organization offices, community centres and other public facilities.

The survey is available until end of day Saturday, November 5. Access the survey by clicking here

Focus Groups

In addition to the survey, a series of focus groups including members of various sectors will be held throughout New Westminster to further examine issues, trends, and gaps in services. There are still available spaces in the Education and Communications sector focus groups. Click here for more information.
