Nancy Cottingham Powell Appointed Executive Director of North Vancouver Community Arts Council

North Vancouver Community Arts Council appointed a new executive director this October.

Nancy Cottingham Powell brings to the role a wealth of experience working with a broad variety of events and organizations through her events management company Arcadian Productions Inc., which she began in 1987 with her husband and partner, Ross Powell. Organizations and events she has worked with include Made in BC - Dance on Tour, CelticFest Vancouver, MusicFest Vancouver, Pacific Baroque Orchestra, the Pacific National Exhibition, Vancouver International Song Institute, and the Vancouver Symphony Summer Series.

She trained in theatre at the American Academy of Dramatic Arts in California and later moved into behind-the-scenes production during Expo 86. Cottingham Powell helped found the Sechelt Arts Festival and recently completed her eighth year as the festival's producer.

"I am thrilled with the opportunity to help guide the North Vancouver Community Arts Council into its fifth decade and help support and evolve the exciting programming that is so vital to a healthy and happy lifestyle enjoyed by those who live in and visit the North Shore," said Cottingham Powell in a media release.

Cottingham Powell takes the helm following the departure of Linda Feil, who had been the organization's executive director for 20 years.
