Introducing "BC Creates"

BC Creates is a communications initiative established to celebrate and engage British Columbia in the story of the Province’s vibrant creative economy. Introduced in April 2015, BC Creates will be a continuing showcase for BC’s film & television, music, digital media & technology, and book & magazine publishing sectors.
Under the banner BC Creates, the overarching objective is to gather and profile information about the participating industry sectors to build a compelling narrative on British Columbia’s creative economy that showcases:
- economic impact
- achievement & innovation
- education & jobs
- community partnership
- global reach
In so doing, the full breadth and potential of BC’s creative economy can emerge across the Province – industry, government, community, media – and become a known ‘brand’ that makes all of British Columbia proud.
Under the banner BC Creates, collaborators are mobilizing communications that collectively demonstrate British Columbia’s proud history of creative excellence and our exciting future potential. This is taking place across social media and traditional communication platforms as well as through trade and special events. BC Creates is also an effort to galvanize the inspiration and the will to collaboratively look ahead, to: capitalize on our successes; make cross sector connections; align job skills development and education; and leverage our collective strengths. This is our opportunity to build a creative industries growth strategy in British Columbia that leads to an even more exciting and prosperous future for the British Columbia’s creative economy.
BC Creates is a collaboration of the Association of Book Publishers of British Columbia (ABPBC); Canadian Media Production Association-BC (CMPABC); Creative BC; DigiBC; the Motion Picture Production Industry Association of BC (MPPIA) and Music BC Industry Association (MusicBC).
