Gateway Theatre Appoints Camilla Tibbs as New General Manager

Following six years as executive director of the Vancouver Writers' Fest, Camilla Tibbs will join Richmond's Gateway Theatre as its new general manager this June.

Tibbs brings a solid background in theatre to the position; her arts management career spans two decades and includes work with such organizations as Touchstone Theatre, the Arts Club Theatre Company, PuSh International Performing Arts Festival, and the UK's London Symphony Orchestra.

Tibbs takes over the Gateway position from outgoing general manager Suzanne Haines, who has spent 12 years with the organization and departs this April.

"Camilla is a very strong leader in the theatre industry," said Haines in a media release. "I am confident she is the right person to build community relationships and positively influence Gateway’s success.”

“I'm very excited to be working at this premiere BC theatre," said Tibbs. "General manager Suzanne Haines and artistic director Jovanni Sy are building this organization to be a unique Canadian theatre experience and I look forward to continuing with the momentum at the Gateway.”

The Gateway Theatre is Richmond's only live professional theatre and Metro Vancouver's second largest theatre company. The company's upcoming production, running April 9-25, is Rodgers and Hammerstein's Out of a Dream. To learn more about the Gateway Theatre, visit gatewaytheatre.com.
