Video Contest to Support BC Charities and Nonprofits
/Cineworks Independent Filmmakers Society is looking for eight regional charities or nonprofits and eight filmmakers from the Metro Vancouver area to pair up in a commission to create 8 great campaign videos.
Now in its third year, the Play it Forward campaign video contest will take place between December 2015 and March 2016, and is designed to bring together creative and nonprofit communities to help make Metro Vancouver a better place to live.
Filmmakers and organizations are invited to a meet and greet event on Sunday, December 6 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the Roundhouse Community Arts and Recreation Centre in Vancouver. Proposals for production pairings will be due by the end of the following week.
Cineworks will commission eight pairings of filmmakers and regional organizations to collaborate on producing a subsidized* campaign video of one to three minutes long, professionally and engagingly capturing the spirit of each organization involved. The finished videos will be screened at Pacific Cinematheque in a free public event on March 19, after which the filmmakers and organizations will be able to use them as they wish.
Organizations that are registered as nonprofits or charities should contact programs@cineworks.ca with an expression of interest; filmmakers are welcome to come on the day without prior arrangement.
The eight chosen charities and nonprofits will receive one subsidized, professionally produced campaign video of one to three minutes in length.
The eight chosen filmmakers will receive:
1. One Year Production Membership with Cineworks ($120)
2. $350 artist’s honorarium (cash)
