Staffing News from the GVPTA
/A new core team are onboard at the Greater Vancouver Professional Theatre Alliance (GVPTA), with Dawn Brennan as director, Rohit Chokhani as producer, and Mallory Gallant in communications.

Dawn Brennan is stepping into the role of Director. Dawn is an experienced and respected arts consultant. A graduate of the National Theatre School, Dawn has a long history as a General Manager and Executive Director of local arts and arts service organizations including the Vancouver Playhouse Theatre Company and Actsafe Safety Association. Dawn has a clear understanding of the history of the GVPTA, first attending GVPTA meetings representing the Playhouse in the 1990′s. Dawn’s role is working with the Board and membership to clarify the vision and mission of the organization. Dawn’s background, her skill as an organizational development consultant, and her passion for Vancouver’s theatre community make her a strong choice for this position, and the GVPTA is delighted to have her join the leadership team.
Rohit Chokhani is taking on the position of Producer. Highly skilled, well connected and passionate, Rohit is Co-Producer of the Diwali Fest, and outgoing General Manager of Touchstone Theatre and former General Manager of urban ink productions. Rohit grew up in Bombay (Mumbai) and is passionate about diversity in arts and making arts eco friendly and sustainable. Organized and strategic, he is excited about the opportunity to engage the community in the Making a Scene Conference and more deeply connect the organization through a broader and more diverse network. Rohit will be responsible for production of all GVPTA events, including the Making a Scene Conference, the Actors’ Symposium, the Unified General Auditions as well as other meetings and workgroups.
Mallory Gallant has taken over Communications and Membership for the GVPTA. Mallory has a Diploma in Theatre from Mount Royal University in Calgary, and is certified in Documentary Film from Langara College and Advanced Arts and Entertainment Management from Capilano University. She has been a Publicist for The Parade of Lost Souls and the Illuminares Lantern Festival both for the Public Dreams Society, Theatre for Living (Headlines Theatre) and Downstage Right Productions. She was on the Operations Team for the TED Talks Conference 2014 and was the Festival Coordinator for the LAUNCH Emerging Artist Festival presented by 149 Arts Society in partnership with SFU Woodward’s.
