Call for Artists Description:

TransLink is seeking Indigenous artists from the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam), Sḵwx̱wú7mesh Úxwumixw (Squamish), and səlilwətaʔɬ (Tsleil-Waututh) Nations to create public art for Burrard SkyTrain Station in Vancouver. The project invites artists to explore the theme "Connecting Communities", focusing on how people connect through travel, movement, art, and culture. Selected artists will design transparent vinyl installations to be displayed on the station’s glass sections for up to 10 years.

How to Apply:

All artists from xʷməθkʷəy̓əm, Sḵwx̱wú7mesh Úxwumixw, and səlilwətaɬ are eligible. Youth and emerging artists, as well as those without public art experience, are encouraged to apply. This is a design-only contract and artists will not be required to manage the project.

Submit the following:
1. A 300-word Letter of Intent explaining your interest and the cultural elements you plan to explore.
2. Up to 4 images of previous work, with optional links to your portfolio or social media.
3. An Artist Bio outlining your background and experience.

* Important Note: Please do not include any design sketches or drafts for this project. Any drafts included will not be sent to the selection panel.

Fees/Compensation:

Artists will receive $8,000 for the design. Additional compensation will be provided for work beyond initial scope of work outlined in the Call For Artists project document.
