Macaulay + Co is a boutique commercial gallery, with a small roster of artists. We dedicate our time managing their careers, and in tandem work with private collections, public collections, foundations, and curators.

Job Description:

The Gallery Manager is a critical member of Macaulay + Co’s team, overseeing daily operations of the gallery. Working directly in collaboration with the Founding Director, the Gallery Manager plays a pivotal role in ensuring all aspects of the business run smoothly and is a key point of contact for the public and the gallery's represented artists. This is an in-person role, based in our East Vancouver gallery space.

This position includes health benefits and 6 weeks of paid vacation annually, including gallery closure during the summer and year-end holidays.

Responsibilities:

Managing artwork database and CRMs.
Grant writing.
Shipping and receiving.
Communications with artists, curators, collections, media, and gallery staff.
Calendar management.
Wesbite maintenance.
Invoicing and receivables.
Art fair and exhibition project management.
General administration.

Qualifications:

Demonstrated exceptional organizational, administrative, written and social communication skills;

Excellent project management skills and previous grant writing experience;

Knowledge of art history and the contemporary international art world as well as an ability and interest to work directly with artists and curators;

Proficiency in a Mac OS environment, with working knowledge of Microsoft, Adobe and Google products, previous experience with artwork databases and CRMs considered a strong asset (training will be provided if required);

Experience with shipping, and logistics a strong asset;

Wordpress website proficiency a strong asset;

Prior administrative experience in a contemporary gallery or museum setting is a strong asset;

Undergraduate or postgraduate degree in art history, curatorial studies or visual arts is an asset;

Remuneration:

44,000 Annual Salary. 26 hrs/week in person
