Job Description:

We are seeking a creative and motivated Museum Learning and Engagement Intern to join our team for an exciting project. In this role, you will contribute to evaluating past programs, gathering community input, and developing new public and educational programs. You will be working directly with the Executive Director and Museum Curator to implement and evaluate programs that reflect the diverse history and cultural heritage of Chilliwack and the Fraser Valley. This position is ideal for someone interested in museum program development, public engagement, and contributing to the revitalization of community-focused museum initiatives.

This is a full-time position from May/June 2025 to March 2026 with the possibility of extension.

Responsibilities:

Program Evaluation and Community Engagement:
• Evaluate past museum programs, analyzing participation, costs, and feedback.
• Gather community input on future programming needs through consultations or surveys.
• Prepare reports on past program findings and community feedback.

Program Development:
• Research demographic trends and identify new programming opportunities.
• Collaborate with staff to design and develop new programs reflecting Chilliwack’s diverse heritage.
• Create program plans, budgets, and timelines.
• Assist in launching and evaluating new programs.

General Support:
• Work closely with the CM+A team and participate in regular meetings.
• Assist with administrative tasks and outreach activities.

Qualifications:

• Recent graduate from Museum Studies, History, Education, Anthropology, or a related field.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage with diverse community members
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and Google Drive; experience with design software
• Interest in community-based museum programming and the preservation of local heritage.
• Ability to work independently and in a team, with excellent time management and organizational skills.
• Familiarity with program evaluation techniques and community consultation is an asset.
• A passion for inclusivity and cultural diversity, especially in relation to Indigenous communities and immigrant populations.
