Artspeak welcomes Kim Nguyen as Director/Curator
/Artspeak is pleased to announce the appointment of Kim Nguyen as Director and Curator. Kim continues our long history of promoting critical conversations between visual art and writing while supporting emerging curators and practices. She will add a distinctive voice to Artspeak’s tradition of developing contemporary visual art practices, publications, talks, and events that encourage a unique dialogue between artists, writers, and critics.
Currently a director and curator at Access Gallery, Nguyen has guest-curated for the Belkin Satellite, Gallery Atsui, and for the Or Gallery where she was Canada Council Curator-in-Residence from 2009-2010. She has contributed articles and reviews to Fillip, Ricepaper, and Cahiers métiers d’art and has written critical responses to exhibitions at the Platform Centre for Photographic & Digital Arts and the Morris and Helen Belkin Art Gallery. She holds a Master of Arts in Critical and Curatorial Studies from the Department of Art History, Visual Art, and Theory at the University of British Columbia and a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the School of Art at the University of Manitoba.
The board and staff enthusiastically welcome Kim during Artspeak’s 25th anniversary year, looking forward as we celebrate a quarter century of ambitious programming.
