The public engagement process will provide multiple and different opportunities for participation informed by Simon Fraser University’s Morris J. Wosk Centre for Dialogue and the ministerial advisory committee. The committee is made up of appointed members who identify as South Asian selected for their experience in community engagement, lived experience and cultural knowledge. Their role is to inform the development of the engagement plan, share opportunities within their communities and support community-based conversations.

After two successful editions, The Vancouver Intl Black Film Festival is back once again with a hybrid version to amplify the voices of Afro-descendants in British Columbia and to foster accessibility across the country. The third annual Vancouver Intl Black Film Festival #VIBFF23, created by the Fabienne Colas Foundation and co-presented by Global BC, is thrilled to announce its official hybrid program and events lineup, running December 1 – 4, 2023. The In-Person screenings and events will take place at the VIFF Vancity Theatre and Studio Theatre.

The ecosystems Symposium is an introduction to a multi-pronged approach to strengthening artist relations. Each day of the symposium will focus on one of the three pillars of ecosystems: Artist Care, Advocacy and Repair, and Wise Practices. For three days we’ll join in learning and listening from knowledge holders with living and professional experience; we'll share meals, participate in ceremony, and witness art. On the fourth day we will be hosting a community market and show.
Many documentarians create a film to increase awareness and understanding of a pressing issue or story by spotlighting, investigating, or humanizing what is happening, in hopes that their films will make a difference. At the core of impact work is a collection of best practices that take into account how a film will be used as a tool for social change once it is complete.

This development proposal includes a ~13,000 sq. ft. cultural amenity space. The proposed cultural amenity will be delivered to the City and includes 2 floors of dedicated arts and culture presentation (visual or media arts) and shared artist production space.
